Throughout the summer, ter Stegen has had to deal with persistent back pain, which has led to him missing training in Barcelona’s pre-season camp.
It was reported earlier that the German was in disagreement with the club over how to treat the injury, but the goalkeeper is yet to make a definitive decision.

According to MARCA, the Barcelona captain is now nearing a crucial decision regarding his fitness, one that could shape physical availability over the next few months.
As per the report, ter Stegen is seriously considering undergoing surgery to address the recurring pain in his lower back.

The German has already consulted several medical professionals and is weighing up the options with the club’s medical team.
It appears ter Stegen will make the final call regarding surgery in the next few days.
In the midst of his fitness woes, the German has also been linked with a move away from Camp Nou, even though the player himself has shown no desire to leave the club.
A host of European clubs have sounded out the possibility of signing ter Stegen this summer, including last season’s Champions League finalists, Inter Milan.
