Cavs fans are excited for the upcoming season… and who can blame them? The Cleveland Cavaliers won 64 games last year and will enter the new season as the favorites to win the Eastern Conference.
Last week, we asked fans to predict how many games the Cavs will win next season. Nearly 50% of voters picked Cleveland to win 58-63 games. Another 18% of voters predict the Cavs will match or surpass their total from last season.
Expectations are high, to say the least. To have more than half of the fan base expecting a 60+ win season means you must be doing something right. But, while we didn’t ask this in our survey, we’d imagine everyone is more interested in postseason success than regular season wins. Another 64+ win season won’t be enough if they don’t advance past the second round.
This brings us to our concerns. We asked fans to pick which positional group worries them the most next season. Unsurprisingly, most fans chose the wing rotation.
The forward position has always been a concern for this iteration of the Cavs. The February addition of De’Andre Hunter has certainly eased some minds — but the rest of the wing rotation is thin enough to be a concern.
The rest of the voters were split on the guards and bigs. This likely comes down to how much faith you have in either group being able to perform in the playoffs. As previously stated — we all expect the Cavs to crush it in the regular season. But can their stars allign in the postseason? That’s a concern that remains.
FanDuel has Cleveland as the favorite to win the Eastern Conference with an over/under for regular season wins set at 56.5.
