The Texas-Ohio State game marked the final time ESPN's Lee Corso was going to make his legendary headgear selection.
One of the great traditions in college football came to an end on Saturday when Lee Corso of ESPN's "College GameDay" will put on a school's headgear for the final time, picking the winner of the Texas-Ohio State game in Columbus. Corso has become part of the fabric of the show. He joined ESPN in 1987 and is "College GameDay’s" only remaining original on-air personality. He turned 90 years of age on August 7. Who did he go with? The hometown Buckeyes, of course. The coach did it perfectly and finished with a flourish.

Lee Corso is best known for @CollegeGameDay but also worth noting he was part of a fantastic game-calling trio w/ @miketirico and @KirkHerbstreit on ESPN Thursday Night College Football from 1999-05.

The end of an era this weekend. Can’t adequately put into words the difference Lee Corso made in my life when I was a totally overwhelmed 20 something and a scared new mom. His kindness, humility and support made Gameday feel like home for me…

The only time Lee Corso didn’t put on the headgear was Sept. 27, 2003. Army hosted USF but a torrential rain & lightning storm canceled College GameDay, forcing ESPN to do the show from the studio. Corso was going to pick USF, but the storm sent everyone scattering & the USF…
