Hornet Pride Invitational championship at Fayetteville-Manlius High School

Little Falls goalie Giuliana Izzo (24) guards her cage against New Hartford during a scrimmage Monday at Veterans Memorial Park in Little Falls. Izzo and the Mounties shut out the host school Friday to win a season-opening tournament at Fayetteville-Manlius.

Marya McCumber scored a goal assised by Adriana Izzo, and goalie Giuliana Izzo made six saves as Little Falls shut out Fayetteville-Manlius to win a season-opening tournament championship.

Records: Little Falls 2-0-0; Fayetteville-Manlius 1-1-0.

Whitesboro scored two goals in the fourth quarter and won 3-1. Gianna Rossi had a goal and an assist for Whitesboro, and Brianna DeHimer and Anna Kernan each scored one goal.

Hornet Pride Invitational at Fayetteville-Manlius High School

Jayden Regan had two goals and two assists, and Adriana Izzo added two and one for Little Falls in a season-opening victory in the first round of tournament play. Breya Dillon, Alexa Eddy and freshman Giuliana Carpineti each added a goal; Carpineti and Eddy each scored her first varsity goal.

Little Falls plays tournament host Fayetteville-Manlius in Friday's 11 a.m. championship game.

Freshman Addison Comstock scored three goals and assisted on three others, and Ryleigh Kenyon had a hat trick of her own with three goals and one assist for Dolgeville. Addisyn Haughton, another freshman, scored two goals, and Payton Comstock had one goal and one assist.

Angelina Ansonia won 6-3, 6-1 at first singles for Canastota, and the second singles match went to a third set.

Callen Cowden had two goals and two assists, and Alan Craig and Mitchell Jacobs each scored two goals for Fulton at Jamesville-DeWitt High School. Anden Mertens had a goal and an assist, and Elgin Colvin scored the other goal for Oneida.

  • Jamesville-DeWitt 9, Central Valley Academy 0

Damien Jackson scored two goals and assisted on a third for Jamesville-DeWitt which led 5-0 at halftime. Bekzod Abdusattorov added a goal and two assists.

New Hartford Spartan Madison Truax winds up to shoot at Waterford-Halfmoon Nov. 9, 2024

Maddie Truax had two goals and an assist, Gabby Jerome scored twice, and Elizabeth Rayhill had one goal and two assists for New Hartford in its 9-0 shutout win at Whitesboro; the Spartans led 5-0 at halftime.

GIRLS TENNIS

Oneida swept to its 42nd win in 45 matches dating back to the start of the 2023 season, winning all three singles matches and all four doubles in straight sets.

Records: Oneida 1-0; Proctor 0-1.

  • Rome Free Academy 6, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 1

Rome Free Academy swept doubles play, winning all four matches in straight sets, and took two of three singles matches. Bailey Faldzinski, playing first singles, had the lone individual win for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, and Rome Free Academy's Melanny Olivo, playing second, won the lone three-set match.

Zachary Glarusso scored both goals before halftime, and Cayden Folnsbee recorded 11 saves in a season-opening shutout for Camden.
