Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Miami Dolphins outside linebackers coach Ryan Crow was arrested early Friday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on a domestic battery charge.
Crow, 37, was being held without bond in Broward County's main jail in Fort Lauderdale.
Crow, who faces one count of a misdemeanor, is scheduled to face a judge Saturday for his bond hearing, WSVN-TV reported.
City police responded to a domestic disturbance shortly after midnight Friday, and he was arrested at the home.
Crow and a woman who live together got into an argument about past relationships, according to an arrest report obtained by WTVJ-TV. As the argument escalated, Crow reportedly intentionally shoved the victim.
Several people witnessed the incident, according to the report also obtained by WFOR-TV.
One witness "stated he observed Defendant with his arms around the victim as if he was going to perform a takedown," the report read. "Witness further stated that the victim's legs were off the ground and Defendant was whispering things into her ear. Victim looked terrified."
A second witness told police that Crow was seen "throwing slaps and trying to grapple the victim."
The alleged victim wasn't seriously injured and she refused medical attention, according to the report.
"We are aware of the serious matter involving Ryan Crow and currently gathering more information," the Dolphins said in a statement. "Ryan has been placed on administrative leave effective immediately. We have been in communication with the NFL and will reserve further comment at this time."
Crow joined the Dolphins before the 2024 season after six seasons with the Tennessee Titans, with which he began his coaching career. He first was a defensive and special teams assistant and then became an outside linebackers coach in 2021.
Before joining the NFL as a coach, he spent seven years as a college coach at Florida, Purdue, Baldwin Wallace and Ohio State.
Crow, a native of Findlay, Ohio, was a walk-on linebacker at Bowling Green. He earned a scholarship.
The Dolphins open the regular season on Sept. 7 against the host Indianapolis Colts.
