UCLA extended an offer Thursday to quarterback Champ Monds, the top-ranked quarterback and No. 2 overall recruit in the initial 2028 Rivals rankings.
Monds attends Vero Beach High School in Florida, the same school as interior offensive lineman Micah Champion Smith and wide receiver Xavier Stinson. Both players are committed to the Bruins’ 2026 class currently ranked in the top 25.
Listed at 6-foot-2 and 219 pounds, the young signal-caller has already drawn strong interest from Florida and Ohio State. Other big offers include Alabama, Baylor, Florida State, Miami, Mississippi, Oregon, Texas A&M and Tennessee.
According to MaxPreps, Monds’ season-opening numbers included completing 11 of 15 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown in a 41-31 victory. He also ran for 25 yards and a score on three carries.
As a freshman last season, Monds threw for 2,234 yards and 23 touchdowns with five interceptions. He ran for 502 yards and nine touchdowns.
