For the first time since 2021, the Alabama Crimson Tide are set to open the season against an ACC opponent, doing so this Saturday against the Florida State Seminoles.
Alabama's first meeting against the Seminoles since the 2017 opener, this will also be the Crimson Tide's first trip to Tallahassee ever.
However, it is likely an unknown as to exactly which Seminoles team awaits the Crimson Tide on Saturday, as one of the questions surrounding this matchup is will Alabama be facing the 2023 version of Florida State, or 2024?

Florida State is coming off what was one of the Seminoles' worst seasons in program history, finishing with a 2-10 overall record that included a 1-7 mark in ACC play. A long-time member of the ACC, the Seminoles also enter the 2025 season unranked.

The head coach of the Seminoles is Mike Norvell, who is entering his sixth season in Tallahassee with a combined record of 33-27 overall. Florida State also has two new coordinators this season in Gus Malzahn and Tony White, with the former a familiar face to Alabama due to his time spent as head coach at Auburn from 2013-20.

Florida State offensively was one of the worst teams in FBS a year ago, ranking No. 131 nationally with an average of only 15.4 points per game. The Seminoles also averaged only 270.3 yards of total offense a year ago, a majority of which came through the passing game.

Florida State's offense will look significantly different than it did a year ago, starting at the quarterback position with Boston College transfer Tommy Castellanos. The Seminoles offense has also added a notable numbers of transfers such as receivers Squirrel White and Duce Robinson from Tennessee and USC, respectively, while also returning a familiar name at running back in former Alabama standout Roydell Williams.
