Comolli confirms Savona’s move to Nottingham Forest, Vlahovic’s likely stay at Juventus

Juventus’ new general manager provides updates on three players who were rumored to be involved in late-summer moves.

Thursday night in Monaco proved to be a little bit more than just Juventus finding out who their eight opponents in the Champions League league phase would be. It also turned out to be an outing in front of the assembled microphones in which Juve general manager Damien Comolli made some news.

That’s is because the Frenchman gave us transfer updates on the following players:

  • Dusan Vlahovic
  • Randal Kolo Muani
  • Nicolo Savona

The last name on the above list, Savona, will be leaving Juventus. The first name on that list, Vlahovic, is now looking more than ever to staying at Juventus, even though it’s not like there was ever a huge market that actually developed for a player we were expecting to leave all summer. And the middle name, Kolo Muani, is inching closer and closer to returning to Juventus in a deal that will reportedly cost Juventus a total package of €60 million when it’s all said and done, Comolli confirmed.

Savona, is heading to the Premier League and becoming the second Juventus player to join Nottingham Forest within the span of a couple of weeks, with Comolli confirming that terms have been agreed upon with the English club in which Juve has already held plenty of talks with this summer. Savona, who will reportedly sign a deal through 2030 worth €2 million a season, is set to move to Forest in a deal that Juventus will get a fee around €16 million plus potential bonuses and a sell-on clause of 10%.

Comolli confirmed that Juve and Forest — who had already done business for Douglas Luiz this month — had agreed to terms of the deal, with reports late Thursday night saving Savona will be in West Bridgford on Friday for his medicals: “We have just reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest for Savona, we can confirm it. The deal was closed this afternoon.”

On the Vlahovic front, Comolli said that the Serbian striker is pretty much staying put and a move away from Juventus during the final hours of the summer transfer window will be a surprise. “There is no friction between us and Dusan,” he said. “He’s part of the team. It is 99% that he will stay and be with us for the whole season. There have been many discussions with some clubs but nothing concrete.”

Does that mean we should read into that 1% that is still out there when it comes to Vlahovic leaving? Of course not. Considering no really market for Vlahovic actually developed this summer despite so many other strikers signing with new clubs, it’s pretty obvious at this point that Juve are having to eat a little pride and keep him around rather than sell him this summer and be able to save some money in the process.

However, rumored interest from AC Milan and others never truly developed mostly because of Vlahovic and his Serie A-high €12 million net salary providing quite a hill to get over for potential suitors.

When asked about Kolo Muani’s extremely likely arrival before the end of the summer transfer window on Monday night, Comolli said he is “not very comfortable talking about players from other clubs, because I think that shows respect.” He added that Juve are “working tirelessly and will do so until Monday night” and “a lot of things can happen between now and then.”
