Steve Sarkisian: “I think from our perspective, a really good week of work for our players. I thought they’ve done a great job of focusing on the things that are important to performing on gameday. There’s been really good intentions in practice. There’s been really good physicality and speed. Been a tough week. We made it difficult on them, especially in the front end of the week. But I love the intent they had day in and day out not only physically but mentally to prepare to perform.”

Steve Sarkisian on Lee Corso: “I think we owe a lot to Coach Corso and I think we owe a lot to College GameDay.” — “What College GameDay and Coach Corso were able to do is expand (college football) nationwide. They were able to bring Austin, TX around the country, they were able to bring Tuscaloosa, AL around the country and make you feel like you were there.”

Sarkisian on Arch Manning and his pregame prep: “I think the biggest thing is him staying true to his routine. I know the things he does when he arrives to the stadium, the routes he throws when he first gets out there for warm ups, what he puts on, how he goes through warmups, his demeanor, his body language. I think being true to himself is the best thing that he can do, so that’s what I anticipate him being.”

Steve Sarkisian says “the best teams I’ve been around all have great defenses. I do think we have a pretty good defense, and we’ll find out as the season unfolds.” — He also mentions he believes Texas has depth like teams that were title contenders or winners at USC and Alabama. — Sark adds “I think there’s great leadership.”

Steve Sarkisian: “They have worked really hard. I was so impressed with their temperament today in our Thursday practice, the energy, the speed with which we operated, the communication, yet there was a sense of confidence. Which is a good thing as a coach. You want to see it. You don’t like getting close to the game and guys feel uneasy. I think our guys feel confident in what we’re doing and that was my point.”

Steve Sarkisian says Emmett Mosley had a lingering injury from when he arrived: “We’ve just tried to be cautious with it. Quite frankly, even going back into July, I didn’t want this to linger all season long. So we’ve been cautious with him. I feel like he’s in a really good place right now, which is a positive for us.”

Sarkisian on team health: “We’re in a really good space right now knowing the style of training camp that we had to get ready for this ballgame.”

Steve Sarkisian: “I love the idea of being loose on game day. There’s a sense you definitely have to have. The right mental intensity and the right mental focus. We should have instilled enough belief in them that they’re more than capable to perform, whether that’s through the schemes, whether that’s through ability, whether that’s through specific players doing specific things, that they should have a lot of belief and confidence in knowing that we’ve got the right pieces in place to go perform at a high level.”

Steve Sarkisian says “we’re bringing all of them” when asked about bringing freshmen to Columbus: “I think it’s important for me to expose these guys to the environment. This isn’t going to be the first big environment we’re going to play in this year.”

Steve Sarkisian on Jack Endries: “I love Jack Endries. He’s a really versatile player. I didn’t know all of that when we got him. I knew he had the pass catching ability and the speed, but he’s a really smart player. Can play multiple positions. He’s more than a willing blocker, so his versatility is something that excites me and he’s obviously got a lot of experience.”

Steve Sarkisian on Mason Shipley: “I thought Mason really came on strong the last 2.5 weeks of training camp.” — “I really thought he had a nice last 2.5 weeks of camp.”
