Jon Gruden has an idea for Micah Parsons' new team.
Jon Gruden wants this one NFC contender to trade for Cowboys' Micah Parsons originally appeared on The Sporting News
Micah Parsons is the subject of the final contract hold-in this Summer, and the Dallas Cowboys are suffering from it.
Trey Hendrickson and Terry McLaurin got their new deals, but the former Penn State pass rusher is still waiting for his extension.
Teams all around the league should have interest in trading for the disgruntled 26-year-old, as he is just entering his prime and would be a welcome addition on any defense. Former NFL head coach Jon Gruden has an idea for Parsons' new team, and it's one he used to coach.
Jon Gruden Believes Buccaneers Should Be All Over Parsons
Gruden, who was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach when they won Super Bowl XXXVII, appeared on the Ronde Barber Show to plead his case about the team acquiring Parsons.
"I’m hoping the Bucs trade two first-rounders and get Micah Parsons in here. I mean that’s really what I want," Gruden exclaimed.
"The one thing the Bucs haven’t proven is, do they have the guy that can get there off the edge? And I’ve said this. I learned this from [Hall of Fame head coach] Bill Walsh with the 49ers; if you don’t have a fourth-quarter pass rush, you’re not winning a championship."
Gruden has a point. Tampa Bay has been a good football team the last two seasons, evidenced by their back-to-back NFC South titles and two playoff appearances.
But they haven't been able to get over the hump, and making a blockbuster move for a player like Parsons would be just what they need to elevate themselves into the NFL's upper echelon.
If the Bucs want a better shot at capturing a third Lombardi Trophy, they should check in with the Cowboys and see what it would take to land the two-time First Team All-Pro.
