The Houston Astros are back in the win column after losing two straight games to begin a new week of the regular season. Houston won their second game of the series against the Colorado Rockies with a final score of 4-0.
Newly returned designated hitter Yordan Alvarez hit his first home run since fracturing his hand in May, and starting pitcher Framber Valdez pitched seven scoreless innings in the win.
Although it was against the team that holds the worst record in the league, Houston will look to continue to keep their top spot in the AL West while staying patient with the numerous injuries they have.

Jake Meyers begins rehab assignment on Wednesday
The Astros are still waiting for the return of outfielder Jake Meyers, as the 29-year-old has been out since early July with a right calf strain.
The injury came at a terrible time, as Meyers has been having one of the best seasons of his short career. Through 89 games in 2025, he has a .308 batting average, .369 on-base percentage, .405 slugging percentage, and a .774 OPS while hitting three home runs and 21 RBI.
On Wednesday, the Astros' Triple-A affiliate announced that Meyers began a rehab assignment.Β

In his first action since getting placed on the 10-day injured list, Meyers recorded one hit in four at-bats while striking out once. His return to the Astros lineup seems to be on pace for sometime in late August or in early September.
