In a recent report, The Guardian offered an update on Chelsea and their pursuit of Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho this summer. It is understood that the Blues are willing to pay up to £40m to acquire the services of the Argentine wide player in this transfer window.

Garnacho’s Impressive Run Of Form In The Premier League

Garnacho managed to shine at times for Man United in the previous campaign when he put in a lot of productive displays for them in the final third. The Argentine international banged in 11 goals and grabbed ten assists in 58 matches for the Red Devils last season in multiple competitions.

The 21-year-old proved his worth in the opponent’s half by averaging 3.44 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 34.5% of his attempts on target. Garnacho was tidy when distributing the ball after making 78.9% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Old Trafford will expire in the summer of 2028. Thus, Chelsea have got no choice but to meet Man United’s demands if they are serious about signing Garnacho in this transfer window.

Will Garnacho Be A Good Choice For Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca?

Garnacho is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few dangerous runs with it on the offensive end of the pitch. He has got the eye to set up some inviting chances for his teammates to score and can strike the ball with power from long range.

The Argentine sensation mainly operates as a left-winger but can also function as a right-sided wide player or play in the number ten position if told to do so. He has some experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Chelsea.

Garnacho would inject more firepower into Enzo Maresca’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge this season.

At 21, Garnacho has got the potential to be a future star in English football, which makes him a decent choice for the West London club to pursue this summer. Thus, it makes sense for the Blues to try and get him on board in this transfer window.
