Chris “Mad Dog” Russo poked fun at the Taylor Swift–Travis Kelceengagement announcement and hype Wednesday. Russo, like a lot of people, is ready for football season.
Already fed up with the couple’s fanfare during games, especially camera shots of the popstar during broadcasts, Russo can’t take it anymore! While not totally serious during his “What are you mad about” segment on First Take, Russo definitely doesn’t want to discuss the love affairs of both celebrities.
Just imagine what the Radio Hall of Famer said on his daily show on Sirius XM? In any event, the Swift-Kelce relationship is not for the Doggie!
“Can we calm down on Travis Kelce and freakin’ Taylor Swift,” Russo said on First Take. “It’s football season! I don’t want to see him bow down, ‘marry me Taylor.’ I could care less. Let’s play football! I’m not interested. Now I gotta watch 9 million camera shots in that week one game when they play in Sao Paulo and Roger Goodell … oh my god, enough, enough, enough! It’s football time. I want Kelce to drop about 5,000 passes because I’m taking the Chiefs under at 11.5 … I am so sick and tired and saying … hey, have a happy life. 1,000s of kids, love each other forever, but keep it away from my teammates and my football!”
Swift and Kelce announced their engagement nearly two weeks after the pop star appeared on New Heights for an episode that set a Guinness World Record. It brought in the most concurrent views for a podcast on YouTube with 1.3 million viewers.
The couple started dating in 2023 after Kelce infamously went on his New Heights podcast lamenting the fact he didn’t meet Swift at a concert. He then got a Super Bowl ring that season with the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, she has a ring of her own.
It turns out, Kelce proposed to Swift around the time she appeared on his podcast alongside his brother, Jason. She announced her album The Life of a Showgirl, which will release in October, in a rare interview with the two brothers.
Swift’s announcement came less than two weeks before Kelce and the Chiefs kick off the 2025 season. She will maintain her regular presence – while sporting a new piece of jewelry on her left hand, of course.
