The Titans will be without Spears for at least the first 4 games of the season
Adam Schefter is reporting that the Tennessee Titans are placing Tyjae Spears on injured reserve.
For roster purposes, this means the Titans will keep Spears on their initial 53-man roster and then place him on IR. That will free up a roster spot for the team to claim someone who hits waivers this afternoon. It also means the Titans will likely have four running backs on their initial 53-man roster.
Spears reportedly looked great early in camp before suffering the high-ankle sprain in the first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.
If you are still doing fantasy football drafts, you should probably move Tony Pollard up your draft boards a little bit. Heβs going to be the bellcow for this offense, at least until Spears returns in week 5. Last year, Pollard had 260 carries for 1,079 yards and 5 touchdowns. That was behind a terrible offensive line. Pollard also had 41 catches for 238 yards.
Through his first two years in the league, Spears has 184 carries for 765 yards and 6 touchdowns.
