The Oregon Ducks have made a new addition, adding former Duck Verone McKinley III to their staff in a personnel/recruiting role, a source confirmed to ScoopDuck. McKinley, 25, is a former Duck, having played at Oregon for four years from 2018 to 2021. During his career he become one of just two players in program history to be named a consensus All-American, joining defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux, who went on to become a first-round NFL Draft pick for the New York Giants.

McKinley, 25, is a former Duck, having played at Oregon for four years from 2018 to 2021.
During his career he become one of just two players in program history to be named a consensus All-American, joining defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux, who went on to become a first-round NFL Draft pick for the New York Giants. McKinley also earned first-team All-Pac-12 (2021) and freshman All-American honors (2019).
McKinley got his shot at the NFL, signing with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2022. At the time, the move reunited him with former Duck safety Jevon Holland, who has since signed with the Giants in free agency.
The newest addition to the Oregon staff also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals prior to finding his way back to Eugene.
McKinley is expected to fulfill a personnel role on the Oregon staff. As a new member of the staff he’ll likely lean into his ties in the South, specifically in his home state of Texas. He signed with the Ducks as a 3-star cornerback from Carrollton (Tex.) Hebron High School.
Oregon has been very active recruiting the Lone Star State, signing 11 high school prospects from Texas since Dan Lanning was hired during the 2022 cycle. McKinley’s addition continues a recent trend in Eugene of former players joining the Oregon staff including names like Ryan Walk, Dallas Warmackand Koa Ka’ai
