It's finally time for college football in Happy Valley.
Penn State football opens the 2025 season inside Beaver Stadium against the University of Nevada, where the Nittany Lions are heavy favorites against the Wolf Pack.
James Franklin's squad enters the season on the shortlist for national championship contenders, and for good reason. Many of the top players from last year's team, including quarterback Drew Allar and running backs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, are back in uniform.
The same goes for the defense, which has defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton and cornerback A.J. Harris, along with new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, who comes over from conference rival Ohio State.
Penn State also enters the season at No. 3 in the US LBM Coaches Poll and No. 2 in the AP Poll.
Nevada will arrive in State College after a 3-10 season in 2024. The team will lean on wide receiver and punt returner Marcus Bellon, who was named to the Hornung Award watch list, while depending on offensive lineman Josh Grabowski to anchor the trenches.
Penn State is a 45.5-point favorite on Saturday afternoon.
