Manchester United’s former player Ashley Young pinpoints which signing Ruben Amorim needs to make before the end of the window.

Positive window so far

The Red Devils have had a rather productive summer, signing experienced Premier League attackers Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

What’s more, they have also brought in a number nine in Benjamin Sesko to replace Rasmus Hojlund.

The Red Devils are also reportedly close to agreeing a deal to sign Royal Antwerp keeper Senne Lammens.

United urged to sign Carlos Baleba

Earlier this month, United made their interest in Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba public but the Seagulls were adamant that the player was not for sale.

Baleba is said to want a move to Old Trafford and it is understood that United will revisit the transfer next summer when Brighton are more willing sellers.

After United’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Fulham yesterday, pundit Louis Saha urged his former club to sign the Cameroonian in the final days of the window.

Speaking on Sky Sports he agreed that the Red Devils needed to sign a midfielder.

He elaborated, “this is why they’ve been in the transfer market looking for some Brighton player… they need power, they need people who can take the ball.”

Saha added, “there are moments in the game where you need that, you really need that aggression and confidence, I don’t think that we have that at the moment.”

Ashley Young, another former Red, also gave his two cents on the matter and explained, “I think you do need someone else in that midfield. I think there’s going to be some more movement in this transfer window and I think Man United do need a midfield who can play as well as defend.”

The Ipswich Town player stated that United need “someone who can get up and down the pitch, and if it’s that player from Brighton, then possibly he might be the answer.”
