Barcelona’s summer transfer activity might not be completely over, as midfielder Fermin Lopez could still be on the move despite his wish to stay.

According to a report from MARCA, the 22-year-old’s future is not guaranteed, with the club leaving the door open should the right offer arrive.

Hansi Flick made several surprising changes to his starting XI against Levante last weekend, one of which was leaving Fermin out of the team altogether.

Instead, the German coach opted for Marcus Rashford on the left wing, forcing Raphinha into a central attacking role. This tactical shift had a chain reaction.

The domino effect at Barcelona

With Raphinha operating through the middle, Dani Olmo was left on the bench, though he at least featured in the second half.

Fermin, however, did not get a single minute on the pitch, further raising questions about his role under Flick.

Despite these concerns, Flick has publicly insisted that he does not want any player leaving Barcelona this summer.

Still, his line-up decisions suggest that Fermin may find opportunities hard to come by if Rashford continues to occupy the left flank.

In such a case, three players – Raphinha, Dani Olmo and Fermin – will be directly competing for one position, leaving the youngster at a disadvantage.

Financial concerns could influence Barcelona

Another factor weighing heavily on the situation is Barcelona’s ongoing financial struggles.

The club continues to face issues with player registrations, and while Fermin has repeatedly expressed his desire to stay, the board could be tempted if a strong offer lands on the table.

Barcelona’s current circumstances mean no scenario can be completely dismissed.

If a club comes forward with a convincing bid, especially one that helps ease the Blaugrana’s financial pressures, Fermin’s exit could become a real possibility.

For now, his future hangs in the balance, with his role under Flick still unclear and competition for places only getting tougher.
