Kansas State‘s season started off on the wrong foot on Saturday, with a 24-21 loss against Iowa State. On Sunday, the Omaha Storm Chasers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, added insult to injury with a post on X that targeted the Wildcats.

Evidently, a social media manager for the Omaha Storm Chasers hasn’t let go of Kansas State’s Week 0 upset loss quite yet. In fairness, it was an underwhelming showing from the Wildcats.

In the loss, Kansas State committed two turnovers, both of which were fumbles. Additionally, the Wildcats committed six turnovers, knocking them back 48 total yards. In contrast, Iowa State only received one penalty all game.

College football fans didn’t hesitate to pour salt in the Wildcats’ wound on Sunday, posting their own Kansas State roasts in the Storm Chasers’ comment section. Of course, KSU head coach Chris Klieman expected this response and prepared his team for it after the loss.

“Bottom line, we’re disappointed. Came here expecting to win, and didn’t win,” Klieman said. “But I’m proud of the guys and like I told them in the locker room, regardless of what this game was, we have 11 more left, and if we allow it to eat us up. If we allow the outside noise to become a factor, which these guys ain’t gonna let it happen.”

“I know that they’re not gonna let it happen because they see what I see, a really good football team,” Klieman continued. “They got beat by a really good football team. And so we’ve gotta go back, regroup, get some guys healthy. We were down some guys. We gotta get some guys back and get ready to go Saturday.”

While Klieman kept a level head after the game, not everybody could say the same. Following Kansas State’s loss, a video surfaced online of Wildcats quarterback Avery Johnson‘s father and brother being separated after getting into a physical altercation. On Sunday, the pair released a statement addressing the viral video.

“We sincerely apologize for our actions following yesterday’s football game in Ireland,” the statement read, via On3’s Pete Nakos. “Senseless bickering escalated into an unnecessary fight. We have resolved our differences and take full responsibility for our actions.

“We have apologized to our immediate and extended family, and now extend our apologies to Kansas State University, its alumni, and fans. We regret this incident, have learned from it, and are committed to ensuring it doesn’t happen again. Please accept our deepest apologies.”
