ESPN’s Sam Acho predicted Micah Parsons will end up getting traded from the Dallas Cowboys because the pass rusher and his agent won’t back down. It’s an interesting situation considering owner Jerry Jones basically flat out refused to discuss a trade and said they’ll have Parsons for three more years by way of the franchise tag as well.

Still, Acho thinks this battle off the field will end soon. Parsons could very well play Week 1 despite sitting out of training camp, but he won’t be playing for the Cowboys for too much longer.

It’s all speculation of course, but Acho stood firm in his prediction. As it stands, Parsons is still in Dallas and appears to be readying himself for the opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Micah Parsons. Where will he end up,” Acho said on SportsCenter. “There’s this contract situation between Michael Parsons and David Mulghetta, his agent, and Jerry Jones. It does not look like it’s going to end amicably. Will Michael Parsons make a change? Will Jerry Jones come to terms? I cannot wait to watch how this ends up, not just over the next 11 days, but maybe even over the next few months … I actually do (believe he’ll play elsewhere). I don’t … think he’ll be traded by week one, but I don’t see him suiting up. I don’t see Micah Parsons and David Mulghetta succumbing to the demands of Jerry Jones. Maybe Jerry Jones has a change of heart. That’s what I’m excited to see.”

On Aug. 1, Parsons publicly announced he’d formally requested a trade from the Cowboys after the organization failed to agree to on a new contract with him. Parsons has been attending the Cowboys’ training camp and preseason games since then to avoid NFL fines, but not participating.

While Parsons may be willing to talk with other teams, the Cowboys don’t seem interested in trading the four-time Pro Bowler. And in many ways, Parsons’ future is ultimately out of his hands.

The Cowboys exercised the fifth-year option on Parsons’ rookie contract this year and could keep him under contract until 2028 by using their franchise tag on him. If Parsons opts not to play once the regular season begins, he could be losing $1.25 million each week. Earlier this week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided a behind-the-scenes look at Parsons’ dilemma.

“It is different. It’s gotten personal, and they’re no closer to a deal, and there’s no reason to think that the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons will be able to work out a deal before the start of the regular season,” Schefter said.

“Now, again, it’s August 18, and sides always can come together, but we want to emphasize, there has been zero contract negotiations since late March and early April. Is that going to change all of a sudden? I don’t think so.”
