The Steelers countdown to kickoff is here — and we’re at 14 days until Pittsburgh faces off against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. In the spirit of the countdown, we’re taking a look at the history of No. 14 and the players who wore it best.

Current Steelers No. 14 wearer: RB Kenneth Gainwell

Signing with Pittsburgh as a free agent in March, Kenneth Gainwell is the current No. 14 wearer on the Steelers roster. Blending together solid vision and burst as both a runner and pass catcher out the backfield, Gainwell is currently slated as the RB2 behind starter Jaylen Warren.

Last five Steelers to wear No. 14:

  • Kenneth Gainwell, 2025–present
  • George Pickens, 2022–2024
  • Ray-Ray McCloud, 2020–2021
  • Tevin Jones, 2019
  • Sammie Coates, 2015–2016

Neil O’Donnell is arguably the best Steeler to ever wear No. 14. Selected with the 70th overall pick in the third round of the 1990 NFL Draft, O'Donnell served as the Steelers’ starting quarterback in the early 90s. His steady and consistent play at the position led Pittsburgh to Super Bowl XXX, where he played his last game as a Steeler in a losing effort to the Dallas Cowboys.
