Ranking NBA City Edition uniforms: Which OKC Thunder jersey is best?

Here's a ranking of every City Edition uniform for the OKC Thunder throughout the years.

The OKC Thunder revealed its City Edition uniforms for the 2025-26 NBA season on Thursday.

The uniform is a tribute to the Native and Indigenous cultures that shaped Oklahoma's identity and community spirit. It'll debut during a home game against Sacramento on Nov. 19, which marks OKC's annual Native American Heritage Night.

This is the ninth City Edition uniform throughout the years for the Thunder, but where does it rank within that catalog? Here's a look at the list:

City Edition uniform rankings for OKC Thunder

9. Gray gradient jersey (2017-18)

The 2017-18 line of NBA City Edition uniforms delivered some classics. It produced the first "Miami Vice" Heat jersey, the "Red Rock" Jazz jersey and the "Black Mamba" Lakers jersey.

But it also produced the Thunder's gray gradient jersey, which pales in comparison to the other creative designs throughout the league. It was even outshined by OKC's Statement Edition jersey that season, which featured a sound wave pattern on the back to symbolize Loud City.

In this City Edition jersey's defense, it looked slightly better on court than it did on paper. But that's not saying much.

8. Gray "The Oklahoma Standard" jersey (2022-23)

Oklahoma City guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (2) looks to pass in the first quarter during an NBA basketball game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Friday, Dec. 16, 2022.

OKC went with another gray City Edition uniform in 2022-23, and this one told a better story.

It represented "The Oklahoma Standard" with red on the side panel to highlight the state's distinctive soil. It also featured a belt buckle with the outline of all 77 counties.

A good City Edition jersey should tell a story, which this one did fairly well. But it should also stand out visually, which this one didn't. That's hard to do with a gray base, as we've seen on this list.

7. Black "Oklahoma" jersey (2020-21)

Oklahoma City's Luguentz Dort (5) puts up a shot beside Washington's Isaac Bonga (17) during an NBA basketball game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Washington Wizards at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Friday, April 23, 2021.

In an effort to capture the pride OKC feels in being Oklahoma's team, this uniform featured "Oklahoma" lettering across the chest. It marked the first time the franchise had done that.

However, this jersey doesn't have much of an Oklahoma feel to it. It looks too similar to the Portland Trail Blazers' jerseys. The combination of colors, patterns and slanted numbers even resembles something you'd see in NASCAR.

By no means is this a bad-looking jersey. But when you consider the theme of state pride, it misses the mark.

6. White "Ice-white Diamond" jersey (2021-22)

Oklahoma City's Lindy Waters III (12) looks to by Detroit's Isaiah Livers (12) in the first half during the NBA basketball game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Detroit Pistons at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Friday, April, 1, 2022.

This uniform was designed to "honor some of the most meaningful community connections and moments in the team's tenure."

The belt buckle displayed the original OKC logo from 2008 Summer League. The jersey featured vertical lettering, similar to the navy alternate jersey from 2012-13. And the side panel included sound waves, similar to the 2017-18 Statement jersey.

Unfortunately, the entire uniform was white and silver. That made it come across as plain, even though it featured some nice details.

5. Blue "Renaissance" jersey (2023-24)

Oklahoma City forward Chet Holmgren (7) walks off the court after being fouled in the fourth quarter during an NBA game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023.

OKC tried something different with this one.

Rather than going with a solid color or a gradient, the base consisted of a custom pattern of Thunder logos and wordmarks. It was inspired by the renaissance of OKC and its vibrant culture.

Some people might say this jersey is too busy, especially when paired with the matching City Edition court. But it's one of the most unique designs on this list with a solid story behind it, which is good enough for the fifth spot.

4. Black "Renaissance" jersey (2024-25)

during the second half of the NBA basketball game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Memphis Grizzlies at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Sunday, Dec., 29, 2024. .

This was the refined version of OKC's 2023-24 City Edition uniform.

The colorful pattern was placed on the side panel this time around. It popped against the black base, and so did the orange-and-yellow piping throughout the jersey.

Art is up for interpretation. But I think this uniform represented the renaissance of OKC and its vibrant culture just as well as the previous version, all while having a cleaner look.

3. Gray "OKC Memorial" jersey (2019-20)

If you're going to do a gray jersey, this is how it's done. This uniform told a powerful story on the 25th anniversary of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.

The gray base matched the color of the OKC Memorial. The gold pattern on the side panel represented The Gates of Time. The white blocks on the bottom of the shorts represented the Reflecting Pool. And at the center of it all was the Survivor Tree on the belt buckle.

Even though it isn't the most exciting color scheme, it was selected with a purpose. And it was executed to perfection.

2. Blue "Native American" jersey (2025-26)

The NBA's City Edition theme this season is a remix of fan-favorite uniforms throughout the years. OKC went with a redesign of its 2018-19 City Edition uniform, which paid homage to Oklahoma's Native American roots, and it knocked it out of the park.

Plenty of the same details are still present such as the diagonal design across the jersey, which is inspired by the Oklahoma River. It also brought back the shoulder and short sash, which is similar to traditional regalia. And the side panel still includes 11 geometric stars, representing the stories passed down from one generation to the next.

This uniform tells a story with tons of details, and it should also look great when it makes its debut this season on a matching City Edition court.

1. Turquoise "Native American" jersey (2018-19)

With an almost-identical design, it really comes down to which base color you prefer.

I'm giving the slight edge to turquoise, which represents the 11th anniversary stone and the native color of friendship. It was the perfect choice for the franchise's 11th season.

This uniform checks off all of the boxes for me. It tells a story. It has a ton of details. It stands out, but it doesn't do too much. OKC's newest City Edition uniform comes close, but the 2018-19 version still tops my list.
