St. Frances dominates Chaminade-Madonna in Broward County National Football Showcase

Chaminade-Madonna's 35-point loss to the Maryland power was the Lions worst loss since 2022.

FORT LAUDERDALE — St. Frances senior quarterback Jae'Oyn Williams threw two touchdown passes and rushed for another as the Panthers routed Chaminade-Madonna 42-13 in the final game of the Broward County National Football Showcase on Aug. 23.

Williams scored on a seven-yard run in the second quarter to give the St. Frances (1-0, No. 5 USA Today Super 25) a 21-7 lead, then added a 36-yard touchdown pass to Jesse Legree shortly before the half. Williams and Legree connected again on a 25-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Chaminade-Madonna (0-1, No. 1 Class 1A) has won four consecutive state championships, but suffered its worse loss since a 49-14 defeat at Bishop Gorman in 2022.

Chaminade-Madonna quarterback Malik Leonard warms up before playing St. Frances on Aug. 23, 2025 at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale.

The Lions started freshman quarterback Malik Leonard against an outstanding St. Frances defense, led by five-star senior edge rusher Zion Elee (Maryland commit).

Williams threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Florida State commit Jasen Lopez in the second quarter to cut the Panthers lead to 14-7. He also had a pass intercepted by Maryland commit Khmari Bing and returned 46 yards for a touchdown.

St. Frances junior Sa'nir Brooks opened the scoring with a 40-yard touchdown in the first quarter. The Panthers tacked on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Carter Dailey to Samir Edwards to start the running clock midway through the fourth quarter.

Chaminade-Madonna wide receiver Denairius Gray (Kentucky commit) added a five-yard touchdown catch from Tyler Chance on the final play from scrimmage in the fourth quarter.

St Frances did a good job containing Chaminade running back Derrek Cooper (No. 1 USA Today Florida Network top 100, Texas commit).

Chaminade will look to get back on track in Week 2, when it travels to McArthur.
