Drake Stoops finally found the end zone for the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, reeling in his first NFL touchdown. Yes, it’s the preseason, but Stoops made the most of his game appearance against the Cleveland Browns.

The son of long time Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, Drake Stoops is currently in his second season with the Rams after hanging around on the practice squad in 2024. Whether he makes the active roster this year remains to be seen, but he’s making his case.

You can see Stoops’ touchdown below, cutting Cleveland’s lead to 10-7. Dresser Winn, who got the start at QB, fired the pass to the wideout.

Stoops spent six years at Oklahoma and finished his collegiate career with 164 catches, 1,876 yards, 17 touchdowns and 11.7 yards per catch. He set career highs in 2023, catching 84 passes for 962 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11.5 yards per catch.

As a member of the Class of 2018, Stoops was a three-star recruit out of Norman (Okla.) North, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He was the No. 17 overall prospect in the state, the No. 201 wide receiver in the class and the No. 1,234 overall prospect in the class.

If he does make the roster, Stoops will have to serve a two-game suspension. The suspension is due to a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing drug (PED) policy, announced in March.

Stoops did not appear in a game last season for the Rams as a rookie, spending most of his time on the practice squad. The franchise signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma last season.

After his rookie season, Stoops signed a reserve/futures deal with the Rams in January, putting him in line to return next season. However, he will now miss the first two games as a result of the suspension, although he was able to participate in training camp and preseason games.
