The Steelers countdown to kickoff is here — and we’re at 15 days until Pittsburgh faces off against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. In the spirit of the countdown, we’re taking a look at the history of No. 15 and the players who wore it best.
Current Steelers No. 15 wearer: WR Ben Skowronek
Skowronek, who signed with Pittsburgh in 2024, is the current No. 15 wearer on the Steelers roster. He quickly made a name for himself on special teams and figures to make an impact on the Aaron Rodgers-led offense in 2025.
Last five Steelers to wear No. 15:
- Ben Skowronek, 2024–present
- Cody White, 2021–2022
- Demarcus Ayers, 2016
- Justin Brown, 2014
- Willie Reid, 2006–2007
Best No. 15 in Steelers history: QB Mike Kruczek
While No. 15 doesn't have the storied history of other jersey numbers, the best wearer is QB Mike Kruczek — the Steelers backup quarterback of the late 1970s. Selected with the 47th overall pick in the second round of the 1976 NFL Draft, Kruczek won six consecutive starts in place of injured Terry Bradshaw. Although he didn't throw a touchdown in his NFL career, he earned two Super Bowl rings during his four-year Steelers tenure — enough to earn him the recognition as the best No. 15.
