It seems many Las Vegas Raiders fans have fallen out of love woih Aidan O’Connell.

It can happen quickly.

Remember, two years ago, when he was a rookie, O’Connell had an excellent preseason and fans are behind him.

That has changed. This week, we asked our community members if they wanted O’Connell or rookie, sixth-round draft pick Cam Miller to be the backup to new starter Geno Smith this season?

It wasn’t close. Nearly 60 percent of the voters want Miller, the North Dakota State product, win the No. 2 job.

It’s not surprising. Miller has had his moments in the preseason, while O’Connell has mostly struggled.

We will see how it all plays out and frankly, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Raiders add another backup in the coming days and weeks even though I do expect to see Miller staying in the program in some form whether it’s as the No. 2, 3 or on practice squad.

Im taking AOCs struggles with a grain of salt, he’s learning a new Chip Kelly system and playing with backups, not to mention the Oline is a turnstile and he’s slow footed, it will take some time for him to get up to speed, he should be the backup but I dont get why some people expected him to be starter material, he’s never been that at any point, the highlight of his pro career was beating KC and he didnt even complete a pass in the entire 2nd half.

So sad that these two guys are our only options, I’m not even going to pick. When we could have drafted Jalen Milroe, Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel, and both of these guys wouldn’t even be in the conversation. And probably 5 other QBs I haven’t even mentioned, in the draft, who have way more potential than either of these guys.

You gotta go with Miller, better arm, more athletic, higher ceiling.

I get that there is also a mental aspect, especially at QB. But O’Connell hasn’t shown that he has that and his performance hasn’t separated him from the rookie in pre season
