Cormani McClain is catching attention.
Once heralded as the perfect pairing with Travis Hunter, former five-star recruit Cormani McClain didn't exactly pan out at Colorado.
He lasted all of one season, which saw Deion Sanders call him out for lack of preparation, and quite frankly, he didn't see him live up to being ranked as the No. 1 corner in the class of 2023. McClain decided to transfer, citing the fact that he wanted to play for a "real and a great program," and also expressing he didn't want to just "play for clicks."
Although in most cases a former five-star hitting the portal would cause schools to swirl like sharks, programs around the country were clearly turned off by McClain's time at Colorado and what he said after leaving. He ultimately ended up walking on at Florida, and although he seemed to have the makings of a five-star flop, he appears to have gotten on the right track in Gainesville.
Cormani McClain's Physical Transformation After One Season at Florida
What started as a prove yourself deal has since turned into McClain appearing to be on track to play a pivotal role for the Gators. On Monday, photos of McClain surfaced, and the Lakeland, Florida product has filled out his 6-foot-2 frame in a big way, and looks far more capable of making an impact now then he did in 2023.

A transformation that fans on social media were loving to see.
"good for him," commented one fan.
"What a shame he took so long to figure it out. So much natural talent and it looks like Florida is finally gonna get that out of him," said another.
"Finally started taking football seriously," added a third.
"S/o money just wish he would’ve did it with prime tho….good luck 25," wrote another.
"I'm happy for him! And they definitely feeding something good," commented another.
What This Means for Cormani McClain and Florida
Earlier this offseason, it was reported that McClain gained 20 pounds, which is quite a step up from the 165 pounds he weighed while at Colorado. It was also noted that he was clocked at 23 miles per hour, showcasing another instance of how far he has come in his development.
For McClain, this can get him back on track to being the projected first-round pick that many viewed him as when he was a recruit. For Florida, the Gators have frequently been tabbed as a dark-horse contender in 2025, and having a talent like McClain ascend to stardom in an SEC loaded with talent will only help that come to fruition.
McClain and the Gators open the season against Long Island on Aug. 30.
