Speculation has swirled over whether the Chicago Sky, currently 8-25 and firmly out of playoff contention, should shut down star forward Angel Reese for the remainder of the season after she missed the last seven games.

Last week, however, Sky head coach Tyler Marsh indicated that if Reese is medically cleared, she would return to the court. On Monday, he offered a very optimistic update on the two-time All-Star.

Reese returned to practice and, according to Marsh, looked like she hadn’t missed a beat. She could potentially make her highly anticipated return on Tuesday night against the Seattle Storm, with 11 games remaining in the regular season.

The Sky are taking a cautious approach, and her status will ultimately be determined after shootaround on Tuesday morning.

“She looked great. She fit right in, like she hadn’t missed any time. Her chemistry is still there with her teammates. She picked up all the stuff we were doing, picked up on the game plan going into tomorrow, so we’ll continue to see how she feels at shootaround,” Marsh said.

When asked if a return on Tuesday is possible, Marsh smiled and said, “It’s possible.”

Angel Reese has had a stellar season statistically, averaging 14.2 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 44.4% from the field and 79.0% from the free-throw line.

While she participated in the All-Star Game and its festivities, Reese has been consistently listed as day-to-day by the coaches and medical staff since returning, and has not appeared in a game since July 29 against the Washington Mystics, when she tallied 22 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists.

During her absence, the Sky have gone 1-6 across those seven games and have lost 12 of their last 13 contests. They enter Tuesday’s matchup against the Seattle Storm, who are currently 17-18, looking to regain some momentum.
