Matthew Judon signed with the Dolphins, made an immediate impact and explained why he's here

MIAMI GARDENS ― A reporter asked Miami Dolphins edge rusher Matthew Judon about enjoying the "views" in South Florida.

"It's about the work," Judon said, on his first day with the Dolphins.

Perfect response.

"It ain't about, you know, kind of coming down here and enjoying myself and relaxing," Judon said.

Perfect.

Judon recently turned 33 years old and he's got no time to waste.

Judon did not come here because of the weather, the beach, the taxes or... the view.

"So it's about the work," Judon repeated. "And hurrying up and getting acclimated."

Judon appears to be a deadly serious dude.

He played three seasons with the Patriots and the first five seasons of his career with the Ravens. In New England and Baltimore, it's not about fun and games.

It's about no days off and toughness and culture and kicking butt on Sundays.

I'm already all in on this signing.

The Dolphins lost a pros pro in veteran Calais Campbell and so perhaps Judon will slide right in as a key veteran on what should again be a solid defense.

Judon could have eased his way into practice but he wanted to be out there on Day 1. And he made an impact, powering past and spinning past tackles multiple times, for what could have been multiple sacks.

Judon said he clicked with Zach Sieler on Day 1. And it makes perfect sense.

"We kinda' speak the same language from where we're from, our background," Judon said.

Miami Dolphins news: Matthew Judon brings 72 NFL sacks

Judon made his name as a standout at Grand Valley State, a Division II school.

Sieler made his name as a standout at Ferris State University, a Division II school.

Judon was a fifth-round pick.

Sieler was a seventh-round pick.

After Judon had wrapped up his introductory news conference, I snuck in one extra question.

"How did you go from Division II to 72 career NFL sacks?" I asked.

"S---, I'm a dawg, boy," Judon said, and he walked away.

Perfect.
