After a night where the Dbacks offense was completely silent, the Dbacks answered back in a big way Tuesday night with several notable offensive performances and a solid pitching outing from the starting pitcher.

The story of the game for sure was Corbin Carroll who hit his 15 and 16th triples of the season in this one surpassing the previous Dbacks record of triples in a season of 14 held by Dbacks great Tony Womack. Carrolls 2 triple night not only helped this team win tonight, but it also put him 2 triples closer to the 20 home run, 20 doubles, and 20 triples milestone. A feat that has never been accomplished before! He will likely also get to 20 SB but I guess that isn’t apart of the milestone tracking. Either way, we are watching something special this season from Carroll and it paid off in a big way for this team tonight.

Jake McCarthy got the offense going tonight in the 3rd inning with a solo home run. And in the 4th inning, Carroll kept the offense going with his first triple and was scored by the next batter Lourdes Gurriel to tie the game at 2. Alek Thomas joined the triple party in the bottom of the 5th inning and all of a sudden for a brief period of time it felt like the young athletic chaos ball team we all fell in love with in 2023. Team captain Geraldo Perdomo continued his fantastic second half out of the leadoff spot knocking Thomas home with an RBI single to bring the Dbacks within 1 run of the Guardians. 2 batters later Carroll hit his second triple of the night driving home Perdomo and tying the game back at 4. The second Carroll triple missed a home run by less than a foot and was an absolute rocket off the bat at over 110 mph. Finally it was Lourdes Gurriel Jr who got the big hit with a 2 RBI single to put the Dbacks up for good in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Eduardo Rodriguez looked good today as he was able to pitch into the 7th inning for his second consecutive start. An underrated metric in todays game for sure. ERod went 6.2 innings allowing 4 ER. The lone real blemish on his night was the 2 run home run to Jose Ramirez in the 5th inning. However, the home run actually came on a pretty decent pitcher’s pitch on a changeup low and away so really not much you can do about that one. For me, you will take ERod pitching into the 7th inning any day. Especially given some of the uncertainty in our rotation plans for next season.

The Dbacks bullpen made things a little interesting allowing some base traffic, but was able to hold the Guardians to just the 1 run in almost 3 innings of work. Saalfrank continued to demonstrate a slow heart rate in the 9th inning with a 1 run lead getting a quick save on only 9  pitches and sealing the win for Arizona.

Unfortunately, the Dbacks have the toughest remaining schedule in baseball with a .538 opponent winning percentage so expectations should likely be tempered a bit. Tonight it was good to see some of the young guys continue to grow and it will sure be fun cheering Carroll on to what has never been accomplished in this game before.
