Either the Boston Celtics need to get Amari Williams some new gear or the former Wildcat just loves Kentucky too much to stop wearing the blue and white — or the black and white, in this case.

Our favorite UK big from the U.K. joined his new teammates at Fenway Park on Monday to check out the Boston Red Sox. There, they got invited to take batting practice and explore the oldest active ballpark in baseball ahead of the team’s matchup against the Baltimore Orioles.

Williams was at the historic venue with fellow draft picks Hugo Gonzalez (No. 28 overall) and Max Shulga (No. 57 overall), along with free-agent signings Luka Garza, Josh Minott and newly-acquired RJ Luis. Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla — an unfortunate blast from the past for Big Blue Nation — was there with some assistant coaches, too.

There, the 7-0, 262-pound center from Nottingham, England wore his team-issued Kentucky sweatpants, representing the Wildcats in the NBA.

We know Williams can play basketball, but what about baseball? There is footage of Gonzalez, Minott and Garza taking swings, but nothing on the former Wildcat. You’d think if he were horrible, that video would quickly go viral, right? Celtics reporter Bobby Manning says Minott was the best, while clips of Gonzalez and Garza were tough to watch.

Maybe Amari was somewhere in the middle? That’s what we’re gonna go with.

Elsewhere, No. 77 (that’s going to take some getting used to) toured the facilities and got to soak in some of Boston’s rich history — fitting coming from the winningest tradition in college basketball history.

And he looked good doing it, rocking that UK logo inside “America’s Most Beloved Ballpark.”

Williams was selected with the 46th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and later put pen to paper on a two-way contract with the 18-time world-champion Celtics. He’ll be active for up to 50 games this season with Boston as a rookie, making half of the rookie minimum salary ($636,435 in 2025-26), including half of that ($318,218) guaranteed if not waived by the first day of the regular season.

“He’s been one of the best passing big men in college for a long time,” Celtics vice president of basketball operations Mike Zarren said of Williams. “He’s an elite rebounder. He’s a great guy. He had a wonderful career at Drexel, and then stepped it up another level at Kentucky. When you meet him, you’ll see he’s got just an enormous, enormous wingspan. And as you’ll see on the court, if you haven’t seen already, he’s got incredible vision.

“Those are just key abilities. In the modern NBA, your big guys have to be able to do all sorts of things.”

Keep making us proud, Amari.
