Kate Martin and the Golden State Valkyries looked to close out their two-game road trip with a win, taking on the Angel Reese-less Chicago Sky on Friday night.

The Valkyries have been one of the nicer surprises of the 2025 WNBA season, going into Friday with a 17-15 record and in contention for a spot in the playoffs.

Ahead of the game at Wintrust Arena (Chicago), Golden State players joined Martin in a chant to prepare for the Sky. The former Iowa star then broke out some dance moves, taking off her jacket and swinging it over her head.

The Valkyries revealed they weren't aware of Martin's "dance game," apologizing to the second-year guard on social media.

"Apologies @kate_martin22 we were not familiar with your (dance) game," the Valkyries wrote on X. "Nobody ready for these moves."

After spending her rookie season with the Las Vegas Aces, Martin was selected in December's expansion draft, joining Golden State for its inaugural season.

Like the Valkyries, Martin has found success with her new team as well, averaging 5.9 points on 31.4% shooting and 2.4 rebounds in 16.0 minutes per game (prior to Friday), all career highs.

“She was my No. 1 priority from Vegas,” Valkyries coach Natalie Nakase said of Martin. “In the expansion draft, we handpicked players that embody our culture: hard-working, mental toughness and ultra-competitive... Kate fits all of those... Kate is our culture.”

Martin and the Valkyries will return to San Francisco to begin a two-game home stand on Sunday, starting with Brittney Griner and the Atlanta Dream.
