Brian Robinson landing spots: 5 possible teams for Commanders star

The Commanders might part ways with Brian Robinson before the season.

With Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. likely on his way out, plenty of NFL teams could use a runner of his caliber.

Robinson is a darn good player, rushing for 789 yards and eight touchdowns during the 2024 regular season.

He has 2,319 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground in his career to go along with 581 yards and five touchdowns in the air since joining the league in 2022. He can absolutely factor in strongly to an NFL offense.

Why would the Commanders want to trade him, you might ask? Meet rookie running back Jacory "Bill" Croskey-Merritt, who is reportedly poised for a big role in the Washington offense this season.

Let's take a look at five teams who would make sense for Robinson if he really is traded.

Houston Texans

The Texans are the best fit on this list by far. With running back Joe Mixon's health a real question going into the 2025 season, Robinson could give Houston a starting-caliber running back on the roster to start the season to pair with Nick Chubb and Dameon Pierce. That committee could more than hold while Mixon gets healthy.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are headed into the season with Jaylen Warren as the team's starting running back and rookie Kaleb Johnson poised for a big role. Knowing how much offensive coordinator Arthur Smith loves to run the ball, we do wonder if Pittsburgh inquires about Robinson. He honestly could take starting reps with the way the depth chart is.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints could use a grinder behind superstar Alvin Kamara, and Robinson could improve the roster substantially in that department. With real questions at the quarterback position, New Orleans is going to have to run the ball this fall to find consistent success on offense. A one-two punch of Kamara and Robinson could be just what they need.

Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (9) stands by between plays in the second quarter of the NFL Week 3 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Washington Commanders at Paycor Stadium in downtown Cincinnati on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024. The Commanders led 21-13 at halftime.

The Bengals have Chase Brown set as the team's starter, but Robinson is the kind of stellar death that teams like Cincinnati need to win in January. He and Brown could give Cincy one of the better running back duos in the NFL. We're sure quarterback Joe Burrow wouldn't mind having that strong a ground game to lean on this season.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts could improve the depth behind superstar Jonathan Taylor, and Robinson would be the perfect second running back for Indianapolis. With the Colts another team with uncertainty at quarterback, we love the idea of Indy adding Robinson before the season. This offense would be that much more potent with Taylor and Robinson.
